Private Córdoba Day Trip from Marbella
Córdoba is a long but rewarding drive from Marbella: about 220 km and 2 h 30 each way. We leave early so the Mezquita visit and a good lunch fit comfortably into the day.
From Marbella, Córdoba and Seville are our two longest inland tours: Córdoba is around 220 km and two and a half hours each way. The day is designed around that: an 08:00 start, a visit that begins almost as soon as you step out of the car, lunch in the Judería and a mid-afternoon departure. You still get the full 150 minutes inside the Mezquita-Catedral and through the streets of the Judería, the heart of any visit to the city, adding an official guide if you like.
If you would like more free time in Córdoba, for the Alcázar gardens, the Palacio de Viana or a longer lunch, add one or two hours when you book; within the day itself, the driver simply adapts to whatever you decide. The reclining comfort of the Mercedes makes the return easy, and you are back on the coast in time for a late dinner. Families often split the afternoon: one parent takes the children to the Alcázar gardens while the others browse for leather and silver in the Judería.
Sample schedule
- Departure from your villa, hotel or apartment in the Marbella area
- Córdoba: drop-off by the river, where your guide waits if you booked one
- Visit of the Mezquita-Catedral
- Walk through the Judería to the synagogue and Plaza de Tiberíades
- Lunch: salmorejo, flamenquín and a glass of Montilla wine
- Short walk across the Roman bridge to the waiting car
- Departure from Córdoba
- Return to Marbella, Puerto Banús or wherever you are staying
Pickup
Your driver can collect you anywhere from San Pedro de Alcántara to Cabopino: villas in Nueva Andalucía, hotels on the Golden Mile, apartments in Puerto Banús or the old town, and the urbanisations of Elviria. The usual departure is 08:00, slightly before that from San Pedro. Your driver arrives a little ahead and waits at the door or the urbanisation gate, so there is no need to walk down to reception.
The drive
The first 50 minutes or so follow the AP-7 toll road eastwards, toll paid by us, as far as the Málaga bypass. From there we turn inland onto the A-45, climbing past Casabermeja to the Las Pedrizas pass and dropping towards Antequera. North of Antequera the road runs through olive groves and the low hills of the Córdoba countryside, past Lucena and the wine villages of Montilla-Moriles. Heading home, we can pause near Antequera to split the drive.

Frequently asked questions
Two and a half hours each way sounds long. Is it worth it?
For most people, yes, provided you like history and architecture. The Mezquita is unlike anything else in Spain. If you would rather spend less time in the car, Ronda or the white villages are closer to Marbella and could suit you better.
Can we have more time in Córdoba?
Yes. Extra hours are charged at the hourly chauffeur rate and can be booked in advance or, if the driver's schedule allows, on the day. One extra hour is enough for the Alcázar gardens or a relaxed lunch.
Do you collect from villas in the hills behind Marbella?
Yes, including Benahavís road, La Zagaleta gate area, Istán road and the hills of Nueva Andalucía. Send us the exact location or a map pin, and tell us if the gate needs a code, so the driver can be at your door on time.
