Málaga shore excursions with a private driver
A private shore excursion from Málaga port built around your ship's hours: we meet you as you walk off the gangway, drive you to Ronda, Granada or Nerja, and bring you back with time to spare.

Granada & the Alhambra
Spend a whole day in Granada from the Costa del Sol: your own Mercedes and driver, three hours inside the Alhambra with an official licensed guide, then lunch and the lanes of the Albaicín before the drive home.

Ronda
A full day in Ronda at your own pace: door to door in a Mercedes, two hours with an official guide across the Puente Nuevo and the old Moorish town, then free time for lunch and the cliff-top viewpoints.

Córdoba
Córdoba in one relaxed day: a private Mercedes from your door, an official guide for two and a half hours in the Mezquita-Catedral and the Judería, then lunch and the Roman bridge over the Guadalquivir.

Nerja & Frigiliana
A private Nerja and Frigiliana tour packs the east coast into six relaxed hours: a cathedral-sized cave, a clifftop promenade over the sea and a white village stacked up the hillside behind it.

Caminito del Rey
On this private Caminito del Rey tour your driver drops you at the north entrance near Ardales and waits for you at the far end in El Chorro, so the gorge walk is the only thing you need to think about.

Marbella, Puerto Banús & Mijas
In five hours this private tour shows three faces of the Costa del Sol: Mijas, a white village above the coast, Marbella's orange-tree squares with an official guide, and the yachts of Puerto Banús.
How a day in port works
Ships at Málaga berth alongside the quay, so there is no tender queue eating into your morning. When you book, tell us the ship's name, its arrival time and the all-aboard time printed in your daily programme. We build the itinerary backwards from that last figure, setting the guide's meeting time at the destination and the departure from the monument so the return drive has a margin.
On the day your driver is at the terminal before you disembark. You walk to the car, sit down in air-conditioned comfort with bottled water on board, and head straight out of the port. There is no waiting for a coach to fill, no other passengers' detours and no fixed lunch stop you did not choose.
Getting you back to the ship
Our rule is simple: we plan every cruise tour to have you back at the port at least 60 minutes before all-aboard. That hour is not decoration; it absorbs a slow lunch, a queue at a monument or traffic on the way into Málaga. Your driver keeps an eye on the clock all day, and if the schedule starts to slip, we trim a stop rather than eat into the margin.
We also track your ship before the call. If the port call is cancelled, for weather or any other reason decided by the cruise line, you are not charged anything. What we do not do is promise to cover hotels or onward travel if a ship leaves without someone; the margin we build in is there precisely so that never becomes a question.

Terminals and where your driver waits
Large ships use terminals A and B on the Muelle de Levante, the long eastern breakwater past La Malagueta. Smaller vessels tie up at the Palmeral terminal, right next to the city centre. The main cruise terminal has a car park set aside for licensed private-hire vehicles, so your driver can wait close to the exit rather than circling outside the port gates.
We confirm the exact terminal once your ship's berth is published and send you the meeting details with your booking confirmation. If you are travelling with children, tell us their ages and we will have the right child seats fitted at no cost.
Which tour fits your hours
Most ships stay in Málaga from roughly 08:00 until an all-aboard of 17:00 or 18:00. Within that window, Nerja and Frigiliana (about 50 minutes away) and Marbella, Puerto Banús and Mijas (about 50 minutes) leave a relaxed day with time for lunch. The Caminito del Rey is around 1 h 05 from the port and suits active passengers, as long as an entry slot early enough is available.
Ronda takes about 1 h 30 each way and makes a full but comfortable day. Córdoba is a long one at about 1 h 50 each way, best for later all-aboard times. Granada and the Alhambra is tight but feasible on a full-day call, provided you hold timed Nasrid Palaces tickets that fit the plan. Seville and Gibraltar are too far to fit safely into a port call, so we do not offer them to cruise passengers.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if our ship is late or the call is cancelled?
We follow your ship before and on the day. If it docks late, your driver waits and we rework the itinerary so you still return to the port at least an hour before all-aboard. If the cruise line cancels the Málaga call, the booking costs you nothing.
Is Granada realistic during a port call?
It is the tightest option, but it works on a full-day call when you have Alhambra tickets with a Nasrid Palaces time that suits the schedule. The drive is about 1 h 35 each way. Alhambra tickets sell out early in high season, so sort them as soon as you know your date.
Where exactly will the driver meet us?
At the terminal where your ship berths: A or B on the Muelle de Levante, or the Palmeral terminal for smaller ships. The main terminal has its own parking for private-hire vehicles. We send the precise meeting details with your confirmation once the berth is known.
Why can't we book Seville or Gibraltar from the ship?
Both involve long drives, and Gibraltar adds a border crossing on foot. Squeezed into a single port call, they would leave too little time at the destination and too thin a margin for the return. We would rather suggest Ronda, Córdoba or Granada, which fit the day properly.
What do we need to bring for the Alhambra?
Every Alhambra ticket is nominative, printed with the holder's name and passport or ID number, and that same document has to come with you to the monument. Bring the same passports you entered on the booking. We can buy the tickets for you at the official price and add nothing on top, but availability is never guaranteed.
Can we do something shorter and stay near the coast?
Yes. The Marbella, Puerto Banús and Mijas tour lasts about five hours, and Nerja with Frigiliana about six. If you prefer your own plan, such as a beach lunch or shopping, you can also hire the car and driver by the hour for a minimum of four hours.
