Ronda is one of the few classic Andalusian sights that fits comfortably into a day in port at Málaga. The drive is about 103 km, around an hour and a half from the cruise terminal, and the schedule is worked out from your ship's all-aboard time, not from a coach timetable. Your driver is waiting as you come ashore: no queue for a bus, no hunting for a group sign among the crowd, and no waiting for strangers who are late back.

Because the group is yours alone and the driver is at your disposal for the whole call, the time in town can be adjusted on the spot: trimmed if the ship came in late, stretched if you have time in hand. Lunch can be a quick round of tapas or a proper sit-down meal, as you prefer, and the driver watches the time so that you don't have to check it every ten minutes.

Fitting it into your port call

Cruise ships usually reach Málaga around 08:00 and sail again in the late afternoon, with all aboard at 17:00 or 18:00. With an 08:00 arrival you are usually off the ship by 08:30 and in Ronda by about 10:10, which leaves the morning for the town, with or without a guide, and time for lunch afterwards. The return is timed so you reach the terminal a minimum of 60 minutes before all aboard. We follow your ship, so a late arrival is taken into account; should the call be cancelled, nothing is charged.

Sample schedule

  1. Off the gangway and into your Mercedes at the terminal
  2. Leave the port and head inland
  3. Arrival in Ronda, short coffee stop
  4. Walk through Ronda, guide optional: bridge, old town and bullring
  5. Lunch near the Plaza de España
  6. Free time for photos at the Alameda viewpoints
  7. Departure back to Málaga
  8. Arrival at the cruise terminal, well ahead of all aboard

Pickup

The Muelle de Levante, with terminals A and B, takes the large ships; smaller ones use the Palmeral terminal near the city centre. Private hire cars have a reserved parking area at the main terminal, so your driver waits there and greets you at the door. We confirm the exact meeting point by email and WhatsApp once we have your ship's name and date.

The drive

From the port we join the city ring road and head inland on the A-357, then switch to the A-367 near Ardales, crossing the hill village of El Burgo and the Puerto del Viento on the way into Ronda. On the way back, if the clock allows, the driver can repeat that road or drop down the A-397 to San Pedro and follow the coast, a little longer but with the sea in view. The choice is made on the day, always leaving a margin for traffic on the approach to Málaga.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the ship docks late?

We track your ship, so the driver works to the real docking time. If the call is shortened, we stick to the essentials and cut free time, never the margin before all aboard. If the call is cancelled altogether, there is nothing to pay.

What all-aboard time do we need for Ronda?

For a relaxed day, a 17:00 all-aboard, or later, is ideal. With an earlier one, or a late arrival, Ronda is still possible but tighter; let us know both times and we will say honestly whether it works or suggest somewhere closer, such as Nerja.

Do we need our passports?

Not for Ronda, which is in Spain. Carry whatever identification your cruise line asks you to take ashore, plus your cruise card to reboard. Cards are accepted almost everywhere in Ronda for lunch and entrance fees.
