Private Ronda Wine Tour from Málaga
Leave Málaga mid-morning, taste the wines of the Serranía at two wineries and share tapas in Ronda, while your driver handles the 100 km each way.
From Málaga the wine country of Ronda is about 100 km away, about 1 h 25 on the road, which is too far to drive yourself if you plan to taste. That is the whole point of the private car. You set off after breakfast, the driver deals with the mountain road and the dirt tracks up to the wineries, and the only decision left to you is whether to order another glass at lunch. He waits at each winery for as long as the visit takes, and if the group would rather head back early, you just say so.
The tour suits couples celebrating something, groups of friends spending a long weekend in the city, and wine lovers who already know the big Spanish regions and want something smaller and more personal. Pick-up costs the same whether you are in the city centre or in Fuengirola, and the drop-off can be at a different address if you are heading straight out to dinner.
Sample schedule
- Pick-up in Málaga or on the coast as far as Fuengirola
- Arrival at the first winery outside Ronda
- Vineyard walk, cellar visit and first tasting
- Drop-off in the centre of Ronda
- Short walk to the Puente Nuevo viewpoint
- Tapas lunch in the Mercadillo
- Second winery and tasting
- Departure back to Málaga
- Back at your door
Pickup
We collect from the historic centre, the Malagueta, the port area and the beach hotels as far as El Palo, and from Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Wineries mostly welcome visitors from late morning, so a 09:15 departure works well and brings you to the first cellar shortly before 11:00. No early alarm needed.
The drive
The outward journey follows the A-357 up the Guadalhorce valley and joins the A-367 at Ardales, crossing the white village of El Burgo and then the Puerto del Viento, a pass with wide views over the Sierra de las Nieves. Many of Ronda's vineyards lie on the edges of the plateau, so the final stretch often leaves the tarmac for a farm track. Coming home after the second tasting, everyone can nap; for Málaga the driver usually takes the same road back, as it is the quickest.

Frequently asked questions
Can we go straight from the tour to dinner in Málaga?
Yes. Give us the restaurant's address and the driver will drop you there instead of at your hotel, as long as it is within the tour time. Plenty of guests finish the day with dinner in the historic centre or at a beach restaurant in Pedregalejo.
Is it worth going all the way to Ronda when Málaga has wine bars?
Málaga's bars pour wines from all over the province, Ronda included. Going to the source is different: you see the vineyards, meet the people who make the wine and taste bottles that rarely leave the area. And you get a look at Ronda into the bargain.
How much wine can we bring back?
As much as you like in the car: the boot of the E-Class or V-Class takes several cases. For the flight home, check your airline's rules on bottles in hold luggage before you buy.
