Private Ronda Wine Tour from Marbella
From Marbella the vineyards of Ronda are an hour away: both tastings before lunch, then lunch on tapas in the centre of Ronda and an easy run back down to the coast.
Marbella is the nearest coastal base for Ronda's wineries, about 60 km and an hour by the mountain road. With less time in the car, the day can follow a Spanish rhythm: two wineries in the morning, lunch at the hour the locals eat, and still time to wander past the bridge before heading back down. It makes a change from the beach and the restaurants of Puerto Banús, and nobody in the group has to skip the wine in order to drive.
Villas in Nueva Andalucía and along the Golden Mile often host groups of six or seven, which is exactly what the Mercedes V-Class is built for. Tell us how many of you are coming and what you like to drink, whether that is bold reds, crisp whites or a bit of everything, and we will match the wineries to the group rather than the other way round. Your driver stays with you from door to door and the schedule is not set in stone: linger at a tasting or leave town before the planned hour, as you wish.
Sample schedule
- Collection from your villa or hotel on the Marbella coast
- First winery: vines, cellar and tasting
- Short drive across the plateau
- Second winery, often a small family producer
- Drop-off in central Ronda
- Late tapas lunch, Spanish style
- Stroll to the Puente Nuevo and the Alameda
- Departure down the A-397
- Back at your villa or hotel
Pickup
We collect anywhere from Cabopino and Elviria in the east to San Pedro in the west, including the town centre, Nueva Andalucía and the marina at Banús. A 10:00 start is enough: the first winery is about an hour away and opens to visitors in late morning. For villas without a street number, drop us a location pin on WhatsApp.
The drive
The A-397 starts at San Pedro de Alcántara and climbs for around 50 km through pine woods and limestone ridges to the Ronda plateau. Once on top, country lanes and farm tracks lead off to the vineyards. The way back is the same road downhill, with the sea glittering ahead of you in the late afternoon; if anyone is sensitive to bends, the front seat is the place to be.

Frequently asked questions
Can you drop us in Puerto Banús for the evening instead of at our villa?
Yes, provided the marina is inside the pick-up area and the tour time allows. Many groups end the day on the marina for dinner. Just tell the driver on the day where you would like to finish.
Why are both wineries in the morning from Marbella?
Because the drive is short, you arrive while the wineries are receiving visitors and your palate is fresh. Lunch then falls at the time when Ronda's tapas bars are at their liveliest, and you avoid tasting on a full stomach.
Is the A-397 hard going after a tasting?
For passengers, rarely. The road has lots of bends, so we drive gently downhill and pull over if anyone needs air. Drink water at lunch, sit facing forward and most people hardly notice.
